Choosing a memorial
An epitaph is the actual term that describes the few words or piece of text that is engraved on a headstone or memorial plaque in the memory of a deceased person.
Epitaphs are often chosen by those closest to the departed. Many epitaphs I come across are traditional in nature. Biblical quotes were always very common. I have seen a fair few famous quotes borrowed, and of course, many a headstone has featured a few lines from a poem that had importance or relevance to the deceased person’s life, personality or career.
My favourites have often been the epitaphs specified antemortem by the person
Here are a few of my favourites.
